Course Information
Description Anatomy and Physiology II is the second part of a two-course sequence. It is a study of the structure and function of the human body including the following systems: endocrine, cardiovascular, immune, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive (including nutrition), urinary (including fluid and electrolyte balance), and reproductive (including human development and genetics). Emphasis is on interrelationships among systems and regulation of physiological functions involved in maintaining homeostasis.
Prerequisites Corequisite(s): BIOL 2102.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 2301 and BIOL 2101
Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate an understanding of blood composition, blood functions, blood disorders, heart anatomy, cardiac conduction system, determinants of cardiac output, and the events of the cardiac cycle. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3) Measured by embedded questions, and/or assignments.

2. Demonstrates an understanding of the structure of the circulatory system, mechanics of blood flow, blood pressure regulation, capillary filtration & exchange, components & functions of the lymphatic system, immune system responses, antibody production, and immune system disorders. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

3. Demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy of the pulmonary & renal systems, mechanics of ventilation, pulmonary volumes, gas exchange, respiratory disorders, glomerular filtration, urine formation & composition, regulation of water & electrolyte balance, aced/base balance, and functions of chemical & physiological buffering systems. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

4. Demonstrate an understanding of the physical & chemical digestive processes occurring in the mouth, stomach & intestines, structure of the components of the GI system, GI motility, gastric regulation, functions of the salivary glands, liver, gall bladder, & pancreas, energy balance, nutrient intake, and the major metabolic pathways. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

5.Demonstrate an understanding of the primary & secondary male & female reproductive structures, sperm formation, male & female puberty, oogenesis, ovarian cycle, menstrual cycle, pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, fertilization, human development, embryonic & fetal nutrition, and fetal circulation. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

6. Demonstrate an understanding of reading material including relevant terminology. (PSLO alpha) Measured by pre-post test questions.

7. Demonstrate an ability to work effectively with fellow students to complete an assignment, and/or cover assigned material. (PSLO 4) Measured by group assignments in the lab portion of the course.

8. Demonstrate an understanding of the general function of the endocrine system including, mechanisms of hormone action, regulation of hormone release, hormone actions, endocrine glands, and endocrine disorders and treatments. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments.

2)Modified Mastering A&P Access code that goes with the lecture textbook by Amerman. This MAP access code is ABSOLUTELY required. This is the same access code that is required for the A&P lab and you can use the same one...i.e. you do not have to purchase it twice.

Determination of
Final Grade
Your grade for this class will the average of your 5 exam grades and your average of the online MAP assignments. Each exam as well as the MAP average will count for approximately 16.667% of the course average. Exams that are not taken will receive a grade of "0". There are no re-takes on exams. No grades are dropped when calculating course averages.

MAP assignments completed after the due date will have a late penalty assessed or be given a "0".

Calculating your Lecture Average:
All grades in this class are NOT weighted equally. Thus, you overall course grade is not a ?simple average?.
Extra Credit = (RLB/20) + (OO & Course Policies Quiz/20) + (DB1 /4) + (DB2 /4) + Group Project
Lecture Average = (Ex1 + Ex2 + Ex3 + Ex4 + Final + MAP average + Extra Credit) / 6

Installation of Respondus Lockdown Browser (RLB) is required on any computer to be used to take an exam/quiz. MOST VERSIONS OF CHROMEBOOKS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH RLB AND THUS CANNOT BE USED TO TAKE EXAMS. It is the responsibility of the student to have a functioning computer and internet in order to take exams during the scheduled period of availability for each exam. Computers in LSCPA computer labs and Student Success Center are available for use for exams.
Exams not completed by the end of the availability dates will be available for the following TWO days with an incremental time penalty assessed. Exams not taken will receive a grade of �0�. No grades are dropped.
A Mastering A&P access code is required to access the online MAP homework assignments. MAP assignments completed after their due date will have a late penalty assessed. MAP assignments not completed at all will receive a grade of "0". No grades are dropped.

It is imperative that you check your email EVERY DAY. This is an online class and email is the only way I have to contact you. Emails not written with proper sentence structure, punctuation, capitalization, etc or that do not clearly state your question will be returned to you for clarification. You MUST use the "Send Email" link from within the course when emailing me. If you wish to email me about a grade, you must email me from the "send email" link within the course website.
Attendance Policy This is an online class and it is the responsibility of each student to have a RELIABLE computer AND Internet access for the duration of the course. If you encounter a problem with your computer, Computers in the Student Success Center and Computer labs at LSCPA are available for use. Please note that some course material may not be accessible using a cell phone and/or tablet device.
In this online class there are no scheduled class "meeting times" and it is your responsibility to manage your schedule to complete course requirements by their due dates. All lectures have been recorded and the links to these videos are posted on the course website and in the notes posted for each chapter. You may email me at any time with questions.
